Vishal Garg, an NIA SP rank officer, has been suspended by the MHA due to corruption allegations for the second time. Although an NIA official confirmed the suspension, he stated that he was not aware of the charges. Similarly, a spokesperson for the MHA also confirmed the development, but did not provide details on the allegations.
However, the sources indicated that allegations of corruption have been made in connection with a registered NSCN (IM) case in Manipur.

After the allegations of corruption in the Fallah-e-Insaniyat case, he was reinstated in the NIA in 2020. It was later said that “no substantial evidence was found against him in the allegation of corruption made by a Delhi businessman.”
Garg, who was investigating the Fallah-e-Insaniyat case linked to Hafiz Saeed, was charged with asking for a Rs 2 crore bribe. The businessman alleged that Garg threatened to implicat him as a defendant if he did not pay. After a year-long investigation, Garg was brought back but given the position of Training.
The latest round of charges comes after another NIA official, Arvind Negi, was charged with corruption in the case of a link between an NGO and terrorism in Kashmir. Negi was accused in May 2022 of allegedly passing Lashkar-related documents to Kashmiri activist Khurram Parvez in exchange for money.
