Migrant released early from prison after killing 3 people in horror car crash

A migrant who killed three members of the same family in a horror car crash has been released from prison early. Aurelijus Cielevicius, from Lithuania, was under the influence of narcotics, including crystal meth, cannabis and MCAT, at the time of the crash.

The 42-year-old was driving at over 90mph when he crashed his BMW head-on into a Vauxhall Mokka on the A47 near King’s Lynn, Norfolk, in January 2023. Lisa Carter, 49, her husband Paul, 41, and her 25-year-old daughter Jade Mace tragically died at the scene. Cielevicius was sentenced to ten-and-a-half years behind bars but has since been freed after serving just over three years.

As reported by GB News, Norwich Crown Court heard how he sped through a red light and overtook another vehicle moments before the fatal crash. He was also rushed to hospital where drugs were found in his system.

Cielevicius has since been deported to Lithuania under the Early Release Scheme. Sir Keir Starmer‘s scheme, which was introduced to combat prison overcrowding, allows inmates to be released after serving 40% of their sentence rather than 50%.

A total of 50,000 prisoners were freed under the scheme across England and Wales by late 2025. More releases are planned for this year, with some prisoners let go after serving just 33% of their term.

Summer Mace, the daughter of Lisa, sister of Jade and stepdaughter of Paul, was sent a letter from Lord James Timpson OBE, prisons minister, saying she could not intervene with the decision.

The 26-year-old said: “Overall, he served three years and one month for killing three beautiful people. We tried to fight against this injustice again, but it is so difficult when we are fighting against people of the highest power who refuse to make changes or listen.

“That man is free now, free to go anywhere in the world other than the UK. He can now live his life whilst we are all stuck with a life sentence.”

She said at the time of the crash: “He is a killer, a criminal, he is the person who has destroyed every part of my life. My mum, stepdad and sister meant the world to me.

“The world is such a dull place without them. No one should be allowed to take people’s lives away just for a small time of being high.”
