MISSING MAN’S BODY FOUND FLOATING IN RIVER

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the missing man’s body was retrieved from the river at approximately 13:00 on Monday.

Rammutla was reportedly spotted by some fishermen who called in the police. The body was recovered in front of the local community.

“The shocking discovery was made after the deceased went missing on 16 July 2022. Consequently, his family reported the matter at the Mahwelereng Police Station,” said Ledwaba.

The missing man allegedly left his home in Maruteng Village, Mohlabeng Section at around 18:30. He was meant to visit his grandfather in Moshate Village, which is also in the Mahwelereng policing area, but he never made it to the destination.

“Police immediately started with investigations and search operation which ultimately led to the discovery of the body yesterday,” said the police spokesperson.

It is not clear how the missing man ended up in the river. The cause of death is also not known at this stage. Ledwaba said the SAPS investigation will reveal all in due course and asked community members to give investigators space.

Members of the public with information that could aid the investigation are encouraged to contact 08600-10111 or visit their nearest SAPS station.
