Mohammad Hafeez resigns from Pakistan cricket technical committee ahead of ODI World Cup

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez announced his resignation from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Technical Committee ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Misbah-ul-Haq, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez are members of the committee, which reports directly to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf and offers suggestions to improve the team.

Hafeez announced his decision to leave the committee through his official name X on Thursday. The former cricketer thanked Zaka Ashraf for the opportunity and stated that he would be available whenever his services were needed in the future. Hafeez stated: “I have decided to leave the Pakistan cricket technical committee. I have served as an honorary member. I would like to thank Zaka Ashraf for giving me this opportunity. I am always available when Zaka Ashraf needs my honest suggestions for Pakistan cricket. My best Wishes for Pakistan cricket as always. Pakistan Zindabad.”

Hafeez’s decision to leave the committee comes after just under two months in the role. He also attended the PCB meeting, chaired by Zaka Ashraf, to review the performance of the Pakistan men’s cricket team in the 2023 ACC Asia Cup.

The PCB held a meeting on Thursday (September 21) to discuss its team’s performance in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan was eliminated from the Super 4 stage of the tournament after consecutive losses to India and Sri Lanka. Zaka Ashraf organized the meeting with Pakistan captain Babar Azam, vice-captain Shadab Khan, Misbah ul Haq, Mohammad Hafeez and other members of the coaching staff.

“The philosophy behind this review was to create an atmosphere of open discussion and develop consensus. The idea is to have everyone on board and debate the actions, identifying the problems and their solutions.
