Morrisons shoppers left asking ‘is this a joke’ as Christmas product launched

With the festive season fast approaching many supermarkets are launching their limited edition Christmas foods – but one Morrisons product has left customers baffled. Alongside its Christmas cakes and trifles, Morrisons has launched a new festive dessert which has shoppers convinced it had been left over from April Fool’s Day. The new Morrison’s ‘Sweet Christmas Pizza’ features pieces of Terry Chocolate orange and biscuit crumbs. Shaped as a pizza, the tomato base has been swapped with all things sweet.

However, the unusual product has left shoppers wondering whether it is actually a joke. In an Instagram post shared by @newfoodsuk, the account revealed the discovery with the caption: “Terry’s Chocolate Orange Pizza spotted at Morrisons!”

Customers in their hundreds soon filled the comment section with their confusion. One questioned: “Is it a joke?” Another wrote: “This has to be left over from April Fool’s Day!”

“I cannot believe this is real”, said a third. A fourth added: “I love pizza, and I love Chocolate Orange, but not sure about together.” The item has been spotted by customers in a variety of stores and is available on the supermarket’s site for £4.

Alongside the seemingly controversial sweet Christmas pizza, the supermarket giant has launched a range of festive desserts including a limoncello and clementine twist, starry night profiterole stack and deep filled mince pies. Amy Austin, Own Brand Director, at Morrisons, said: “Christmas is magic, and months of culinary innovation and craftsmanship have gone into creating this year’s festive lineup – with something for everyone, from our array of crowd-pleasing party food and festive fan favourites, right up to the exceptional indulgence of our premium The Best and The Best Signature ranges.

“At the heart of it all is our Market Street, where our expert butchers, bakers and fishmongers bring traditional artisan skill, custom cuts, and insider tips straight to your feast.

“Blending quality and value with total shopping convenience – in-store, online, or delivered to your door – we’ve made it easier than ever to enjoy Christmas with Morrisons.”
