A Morrisons store in a UK seaside town has been given a near £2 million upgrade, which was unveiled by the local mayor. The Morrisons on Treloggan Road is the largest supermarket in Newquay, Cornwall, with its refurbishment being launched on Monday, June 22. It has new and improved fridge units which will keep food fresher for longer. The refit was officially unveiled by Mayor Cllr Drew Creek and will make it easier for customers to navigate the store’s chilled food range.
A Morrisons spokesperson said: “The full refrigeration refit is perfectly timed with the warmer weather, to bring a range of benefits as customers will experience easier navigation of chilled and fresh food, alongside improved product visibility and display quality, making shopping at Morrisons Newquay even easier for local shoppers.”
Meanwhile, Katie Bonner, Morrisons Newquay store manager, told Voice Newspapers: “We’re excited to have been selected to benefit from upgraded refrigerators.
“It’s been brilliant to celebrate with our community, alongside Mayor Drew Creek and some of our valued local suppliers. The new fridges provide a brighter, easier shopping experience and help ensure products stay fresher for longer, meaning they are a great investment for both our local store and our customers”.
While Morrisons has recently announced the closure of Morrisons Daily stores across the country, it recently opened a new one on King Street in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent.
Morrisons has 1,600 Morrisons Daily convenience stores, around 600 of which are franchise stores that allow people or businesses to sell goods or services using the brand name, by providing them with a licence.
It comes as the supermarket giant recently revealed plans to pull down the shutters on dozens of the Morrisons Daily branches, which were originally taken on as part of a £190million rescue deal for McColl’s in 2022.
