MP: Three drown, five go missing crossing Chambal on way to temple in Rajasthan

The incident took place when a group of 17 devotees from Shivpuri district, en route to a temple in the neighboring state, were crossing the river on foot through a shallow stretch, an official said.

Three people, including a woman, drowned and five others went missing while crossing the Chambal river en route to Rajasthan in the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning, police said.

The incident took place when a group of 17 devotees from Shivpuri district, en route to a temple in the neighboring state, were crossing the river on foot through a shallow stretch, an official said.

However, three devotees drowned, while five others went missing, he said.

All the devotees were from the Chilwada village of Shivpuri and were on their way to Kaila Devi Mandir in the neighboring Karauli district of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan police and rescuers were also searching for the missing people, authorities said.
