NEET student Bhavesh Teju Singh Rathore hanged himself in his room by a rope attached to a hook in the ceiling on Tuesday night.

A 19-year-old student allegedly committed suicide in Nagpur after scoring lower than expected on the highly competitive NEET (National Entrance Eligibility Test), a police official said on Wednesday.

The student, Bhavesh Teju Singh Rathore, hanged himself in his room by a rope attached to a hook in the ceiling on Tuesday night, the official said.

Rathore originally hailed from the Karanja Lad tehsil of Washim district and had moved to Nagpur to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor.

On Tuesday, when the results of the NEET exam for admission to medical schools were announced, he scored 588 points out of 720, the police official said.

Upset by the lower-than-expected marks, the teen committed suicide, the official said.

Sub-Inspector Ravindra Chavan said a “suicide” note was found in Rathore’s room citing his disappointment at the extreme pace’s low grades.
