Maharashtra Governor and the ruling NDA’s candidate for the September 9 Vice-Presidential election, CP Radhakrishnan, arrived in Delhi on Monday and was received by senior ministers and leaders of the BJP and NDA.
Radhakrishnan, 67, was named the Vice-Presidential candidate of the BJP-led NDA on Sunday.
He was welcomed at the Delhi airport by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju, Food Minister Pralhad Joshi, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde, and senior Telugu Desam Party leader and Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu.
The last date for filing nominations for the Vice-Presidential election is August 21.
Ahead of the nominations, CP Radhakrishnan is expected to meet leaders of all political parties as part of his campaign for the Vice-Presidential election — the country’s second-highest constitutional office.
He will also call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
