New community coronavirus case in Sydney

A new case of coronavirus has been detected in Bondi, in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.

The man, aged in his 60s, is a driver and transports international flight crews, NSW Health said. 9News understands he is not vaccinated against COVID-19.

Urgent investigations into the source of the infection and contact tracing are underway, as is genome sequencing.

NSW Health is contacting close contacts of the man.

A list of locations across Sydney’s eastern suburbs have been identified as potential exposure sites.

Anyone who was at the 1.45pm screening of Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard at Bondi Junction on Sunday must get tested immediately and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result.

Queensland issues quarantine order

Queensland Health has ordered that anybody in Queensland who had been to one of the NSW COVID-19 exposure sites during the risk period is automatically required to quarantine.

“We will be closely monitoring the situation in NSW over coming days,” Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said.

“It’s important that anyone who has been to these venues in Sydney follow the advice of NSW Health, and not travel.

“If you have been to any of these sites and are already in Queensland, you must immediately travel by private transport directly to your home or accommodation and quarantine.

“We act quickly in these situations to protect the health and safety of Queenslanders and visitors.”
