Long before sunrise, the line to be among the first to get into Costco’s newest location in Placer County extended past the big rigs in the loading dock and wrapped around the corner of the Loomis warehouse store.

By 7:30 a.m. Thursday, the ribbon was cut and the dash to score opening day deals was underway.

“This puts Loomis on the map,” Loomis Mayor Stephanie Youngblood said.

The new location, with 350 jobs, could potentially generate up to $1 million in revenue for the Loomis government annually, Youngblood said.

Among the big items attracting attention, beyond the now familiar focus on deals for bourbon and whiskey, was a stack of men’s and women’s Hokas near the checkout lanes.
