North Country dealing with severe flooding and storm damage

Parts of New Hampshire’s North Country are dealing with substantial flooding and storm damage.There were reports of washed-out roads, downed trees and wires and people being rescued in areas including Littleton, Monroe, Dalton and Lancaster.In Littleton, a section of Dells Road was flooded and according to Littleton Fire Rescue, Dells Brook is at capacity. Officials said West Main Street was closed north of Dells Road due to damage from a possible microburst. Meadows Street, which leads to the Littleton Walmart, was also flooded. There were reports of washed-out roads, downed trees and wires and people being rescued in areas including Littleton, Monroe, Dalton and Lancaster.

In Littleton, a section of Dells Road was flooded and according to Littleton Fire Rescue, Dells Brook is at capacity. In Dalton, sections of Route 135 are washed out. Dalton Fire Rescue officials said the area between Union Road and Cushman Brook is gone. Officials said Route 135, between the fire station and Bridge Hill Road, was also shut down.

Lancaster also was hit hard. A giant chunk of Route 135 in that town is gone due to the flooding.

The Grafton County Sheriff’s Office told News 9 the town of Monroe has some extreme damage. Officials said there is so much damage that some people are trapped with no way out.

Farther north in Pittsburg, police say there are a lot of washed-out roads and debris.They say many of the roads are eroding and they could let loose if anyone drives over them.

At last check, there were no reports of any storm-related injuries in Grafton or Coos counties.
