NSW support package will help keep small businesses ‘afloat’

Business NSW CEO Daniel Hunter says the state government’s support package will help keep small business “afloat” with many already “really suffering” because of the Sydney lockdown.

On Tuesday NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet announced a package which includes grants between $5,000 and $10,000 for small businesses, payroll tax deferrals for all employers and an extension of the Dine and Discover program until the end of August.

“We think the state government has got on the front foot with this and got a package out to businesses that will help to keep those small businesses afloat,” Mr Hunter said.

“The key for us is getting money flowing quickly to those businesses.

“Some of them are already really suffering. Some of those businesses in the CBD of Sydney for example were only just hanging on by a thread as the CBD was starting to come back.

“So getting this money into the hands of businesses quickly will hopefully help to keep them afloat and prosper once we come out of this lockdown.”
