One transported to hospital after South Bend shooting

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) — South Bend police responded to a shooting on the city’s northwest side that sent one person to the hospital.

It happened on Studebaker Street.

This is between the South Bend Cemetery and the MLK Dream Center.

Dispatch says the call came in after 9:30 pm.

Police say a male was shot behind one of the houses on the block and was transported to Memorial Hospital.

The victim is currently in surgery.

Police also say one person ran from the scene but was detained.

They cannot confirm whether that incident is related to the shooting.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
