Hours after Kataib Hezbollah injured three American troops with an assault on an air base in Iraq on Dec. 25, the U.S. struck again, hitting three amenities utilized by the Iran-backed militia. U.S. officers described the act as a proportionate retaliation to discourage additional assaults and mitigate the danger of a full-scale struggle between the U.S. and Iran.
