Heavy rainfall caused extensive flooding, traffic disruptions, and a mudslide across several districts.
The Imphal and Nambul rivers flooded and breached the dam, causing flash floods in the region and engulfing the nearby villages and swathes of agricultural land.
Cyclone Remal is the first of the frequent storms expected to pound the low-lying coasts of India and Bangladesh this year as climate change drives up surface temperatures at sea.
