On Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that Pakistan and China’s cooperative partnership has remained firm for peace and progress.
PM Imran Khan made the remarks while delivering a keynote speech at the CPC and World Political Parties Summit via video link in Beijing.
In a virtual address to the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and World Political Parties Summit, the prime minister said that a “people-centric approach” to development is at the centre of CPC’s “astonishing success.”
He spoke of how the founding father of the People’s Republic of China, Chairman Mao Zedong, and subsequent chairman, Deng Xiaoping, “guided the Chinese people in reclaiming national dignity, self-pride, self-respect and China’s rightful place in the world.”
The prime minister said that Pakistan-China’s strategic partnership reflected the time-tested ties between the two ‘Iron brothers’ as both countries shared objectives for global peace, economic cooperation and wider regional connectivity.
Prime Minister Khan said that he formed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf on the principles of accountability, transparency, meritocracy and Islamic welfare to break the vicious cycle of elite capture, corruption and nepotism. “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf remains committed to its original mission of rule of law, equality and justice,†he maintained.
Dilating upon his government’s major achievements, he said the Ehsaas Program launched by the PTI government last year was one of the leading social protection programmes in Asia. In its second phase, they envisaged providing social protection to 8 million of the country’s poorest citizens, he added.
