Pak engages in hostile propaganda against India to divert attention from its internal failings: MEA report

There is no let up in Pakistani sponsored cross-border terrorism and Islamabad has yet to show sincerity in bringing justice to the families of the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) said in a statement. report on Monday.

In its annual report for 2022, MEA also said Pakistan continues to engage in “manufactured and hostile propaganda” to vilify India and divert attention from its domestic political and economic failings.

He said India wants normal neighborly relations with Pakistan and New Delhi’s consistent position has been that problems, if any, should be resolved bilaterally and peacefully, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence. At the same time, he said that Pakistan has a responsibility to create such an enabling environment.

“Pakistan continues to engage in hostile and fabricated propaganda to vilify India and divert attention from its domestic political and economic failings,” he said.

“India has completely and unequivocally rejected all actions and statements by Pakistan on matters that are entirely internal to India,” the MEA said.

He said there is a greater understanding among the countries that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and related issues are internal to the country.

“Despite India’s persistent insistence that Pakistan honor its January 2004 commitment not to allow its soil or territory under its control to be used for terrorism against India, cross-border terrorism, infiltration and illegal arms smuggling into India. through the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Boundary,” the MEA said.

“Pakistan has yet to show sincerity in bringing justice to the families of the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai,” he said.

The MEA noted that India has consistently stressed the need for Pakistan to take “credible, irreversible and verifiable” steps to end cross-border terrorism.

“India constantly raises the issue of Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terrorism and terrorist infiltration in bilateral, regional and multilateral fora. In such disclosure, credible inputs on the Pakistani origins of the captured terrorists are also shared,” he said.

The MEA said India wants normal neighborly ties with Pakistan. “India wants normal neighborly relations with Pakistan. India’s consistent position is that issues, if any, between India and Pakistan should be resolved bilaterally and peacefully, in an atmosphere free from terror and violence.

“Pakistan has a responsibility to create such an enabling environment,” he said.

“However, Pakistan continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism against India; restrict normal trade, connectivity and exchanges between people,” the MEA said.
