The order – against PTI chief and former minister Fawad Chaudhry – belongs to a contempt case filed last year. The order was issued after the two politicians failed to appear before the EC on Tuesday despite repeated warnings.
The ECP had launched contempt proceedings last year against the head of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf and two party leaders for using “distempered” language against the election watchdog and the Chief Election Commissioner. Asad Umar was left out of the order after his lawyer told the ECP that his client had another case to attend to and a medical appointment, requesting a waiver of appearance.
