Pakistan foils major terror plot: 2 ISIS terrorists among 7 arrested

Pakistani police agencies thwarted a major terror plot by arresting seven suspected terrorists, including two key ISIS commanders, in the country’s Punjab province, police said Monday.

The terrorists were arrested by the Punjab Police Anti-Terrorism Department (CTD) during various intelligence operations carried out in different districts of the province.

“CTD carried out 49 intelligence operations across the province during which seven suspected terrorists belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, including two ISIS commanders, Shahid Hussain and Siaful Din, were arrested.” said the CTD spokesman. .

“Both commanders were operating in Punjab,” he said.

The spokesman said the terrorists had planned to attack major facilities and other locations across the province.

The police have registered six cases against them.

Police also recovered 3,100 grams of explosives, 14 detonators, 10 feet of protective cable, prohibited literature, mobile phones, and cash.

Last Saturday, the CTD arrested five female ISIS terrorists in Lahore and Sheikhupura in Punjab province.

“CTD teams raided the Daesh women’s hideouts and arrested three in Lahore and two in Sheikhupura (about 50 kilometers from Lahore),” the CTD said.

Weapons, cash, prohibited literature and mobile phones were also recovered from them. “The women are active members of Daesh and are involved in terrorist activities in the country,” she said.

Last month, the CTD arrested more than 20 terrorists from banned organizations during operations in different areas of Punjab.
