Pakistan Meteorological Department: Weekly Drought Information (September 18, 2023) (EN/UR) – Pakistan

During the past week, rain was reported in most parts of the country. The significant change occurred in the drought areas during the past week compared to the previous week as shown in the figure. General conditions are normal and humid in Pakistan. However, the situation in coastal and adjoining areas of Sindh and Balochistan appears less humid than before.

Forecast duration: September 18, 2023 to September 24, 2023

  • On September 18, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thunder in Islamabad, Potohar region, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern and southern Punjab, southeastern Sindh, northeastern Balochistan and Kashmir. Meanwhile, there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in southeastern Sindh.

  • On September 19, strong or gusty winds and thundershowers are likely over Lower Sindh, Northeast Balochistan, Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Kashmir. Meanwhile, there is also a possibility of heavy rain in some places in Lower Sindh.

  • On September 20, Badin, Thatta, Karachi, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, Potohar region and Upper Punjab are expected to be partly cloudy with strong winds and thundershowers. The weather will remain hot and dry in other parts of the country.

  • From September 21 to 24, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thundershowers along with partly cloudy weather in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, Potohar region and Upper Punjab. The weather will remain hot and dry in other parts of the country.
