Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed said that Pakistan Post had established over a thousand Digital Franchise Post Offices (DFPOs) spread in more than 130 cities and towns of the country.
Addressing a ceremony at Postal Staff College in Islamabad on Monday, he said that the DFPOs have been equipped with state-of-the-art technology and feature a comprehensive digital platform to streamline booking, real-time tracking and delivery of articles.
He added that 10,000 more applications have been received for the acquisition of digital franchises.
The federal minister said that this programme would open new opportunities and a much wider access for small scale business, cottage industry and artisans of Pakistan through a massive outreach, maximising their market potential.
He said that under the initiative 0.3 million new jobs opportunities would be created for the youth. He further said that Pakistan Post will soon lead in the logistic sector. “We are striving hard to implement all the FATF’s terms and conditions.â€
He said that domestic and foreign remittances are on the rise in the country.
Murad said that when the PTI came into power, Pakistan Post was facing losses of Rs60 billion. “But now the revenue of Pakistan Post has significantly increased under the present government†he added.
All the state own institutions, he said, should stand on their feet and government working to make them profitable through reforms.

Murad said that the PTI government has taken various measures to overcome losses and implementing on austerity measures in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He said that under the new initiative Pakistan Post has also introduced a Track and Trace system and mobile application to facilitate its customers.
The minister said that ‘Urgent Mail Service’ was highly praised by users and now EMS Plus has been initiated aiming to promote e-commerce and online business in line with modern techniques for courier and parcel delivery services.
He said that Pakistan Post revenue was on the rise but at same times our expenses also going up, adding that new initiative would overcome the expenses and will make the institute profitable.
“The distribution of Sehat Insaf Cards to the 100 per cent population of Khyber-Pakhunkhwa has been completed while it is under progress in Punjab, Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit-Balistan.â€
PM Imran, he said, also directed the Balochistan government to roll out the same health care scheme in the province.
The federal minister said that employees of Pakistan Post would be provided free health care facility and they would be promoted on the basis on promotion.
He praised the services of postmen, saying that they are working hard in far flung areas.
