Pakistan’s ace javelin thrower Arshad Nadeemwho took silver at the World Championships in Athletics, returned home on Tuesday where he received a warm welcome and expressed his desire to win an Olympic medal in Paris next year.
The star javelin thrower was greeted at the Allama Iqbal International Airport by officials from the Pakistan Athletics Federation and the Pakistan Sports Board.
Nadeem then made his way home to Mian Channu in Khanewal district of Pakistan’s Punjab province, where his relatives, neighbors and others welcomed him by beating drums and singing patriotic songs.

He has been rewarded with a cash prize announcement of 5 million by Acting Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar.
Nadeem, who also won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games last year in Birmingham, told the media that if the authorities give him the right facilities such as training and equipment, he can win the gold medal for Pakistan at the Olympic Games next year.
“We just need better training facilities, that’s all. I learned by watching videos of other great javelin throwers, especially Neeraj Chopra. I’ve studied his technique, the way they position themselves at launch.

“But to continue competing at the highest level you need specialized training,” he said.
Nadeem insisted that he got along with Chopra and that the two respected each other a lot.
“He wins, I win, we both do our best for our countries but obviously there is only one gold medal. But after the initial disappointment, I was happy to have become the first Pakistani athlete to win a World Championship medal.”
