Border Security Force personnel shot dead a Pakistani intruder and thus thwarted an infiltration attempt along the India-Pakistan border at Tarn Taran, Punjab in the early hours of the morning of Friday.

The BSF said that some suspicious movements were observed near the border security fence at the international border early this morning and they immediately took up positions.

When the intruders continued to approach the border fence, the troops fired on them.

“BSF Alert troops on 11 August observed a suspicious movement of a Pakistani criminal/intruder in front of the border fence in the area falling near the Thekalan-bordering village in Tarn Taran district. The intruder was challenged by the forces but could not stop and kept advancing,” read a statement from the BSF.

“Sensing an imminent threat and to avoid further misadventure, BSF troops fired on the scoundrel in self-defense, killing him on the spot,” it read.

BSF killed two unidentified intruders from Pakistan, who crossed into Indian territory and recovered three packages of suspected contraband items near the India-Pakistan border in May this month, while arresting a Pakistani national near the international border. in Punjab in the same month.

BSF soldiers at the Punjab border captured 22 drones sent from across the border, killed two Pakistani intruders and confiscated 316 kilograms of drugs in the year 2022.

In an earlier statement, BSF had mentioned: “The Punjab Frontier troops have maintained an extremely high level of alertness and vigilance. As a result, BSF successfully detected and captured 22 drones and seized 316,988 kg of heroin, 67 weapons, 850 rounds and killed two Pakistani intruders and detained 23 Pakistani nationals in separate incidents.”
