Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Friday announced the launch of Pakistan’s first electric bus service in Karachi.
In a tweet, the minister said that the people of the metropolis will be able to avail the bus service from today.
“This service will start from Tank Chowk Malir Cantt to Clock Tower Roundabout, Sea View Defence using Khayaban e Ittehad,” he said, adding that airport passengers can also avail this service.

According to the Sindh Mass Transit Authority, these electric buses are environmentally friendly as they are charged via solar energy.
Additionally, the fares for these bases will be low while they offer a comfortable ride.

Last month, the Sindh government decided to launch electric taxi services for the citizens of Karachi, including pink-coloured taxis driven by women for female passengers.
Memon had said that the service would be started in two phases comprising blue and pink-coloured taxis. The pink taxis will be equipped with cameras and a monitoring system to ensure safety and security.
The shift towards electric transportation services aims to be sustainable, safe, affordable, and comfortable for citizens.
