Pezeshkian, Modi Discuss Expanding Iran-India Ties – WANA

WANA (Sep 11) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in India, discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed key issues of mutual interest, ways to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation, and continued implementation of strategic agreements between Iran and India.

Pezeshkian stressed the need to strengthen ties among countries in the region, saying Iran and India share a number of common interests and areas of convergence that can provide a basis for expanding cooperation.

Referring to India’s hosting of the BRICS summit, the Iranian president also emphasized the importance of expanding ties among BRICS member states in various fields, particularly economic and financial cooperation.

During his visit to India for the BRICS summit, Pezeshkian also addressed the main BRICS leaders’ meeting and the BRICS Economic Forum, highlighting Iran’s potential to contribute to strengthening economic connectivity among the group’s member states.
