PM chairs special security meeting at ISI Headquarters

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday appreciated the ongoing efforts and expressed satisfaction over the performance of National Intelligence Coordination Committee (NICC).

According to a statement issued by the PM media office, the Prime Minister made these remarks while chairing a special meeting of the recently established NICC here at the Inter-Services Intelligence Headquarters.

It said that a comprehensive briefing followed by discussion on enhanced intelligence cooperation was held.

The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary and the Heads of Services Intelligence Agencies, Intelligence Bureau and Federal Investigation Agency.

National Intelligence Coordination Committee, a platform for intelligence coordination for unified and wholesome National Intelligence Assessment, was notified by the government on January 22 this year. On his arrival, the premier was received by Director General Inter-Services Intelligence Lt Gen Faiz Hamid.

Earlier in May, Prime Minister Imran Khan had appreciated the diligent efforts of the ISI for national security and expressed his satisfaction over its professional preparedness. He had expressed these remarks during a visit to ISI Secretariat.

The PM was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar.

A comprehensive briefing was given to the civil and military leadership on the regional and national security situation during the visit.
