PM takes vote-of-confidence from parliament on Senate poll verdict

Owing to the unexpected victory of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Senate elections on Islamabad seat, Prime Minister (PM) Khan has announced to take vote-of-confidence of  the parliament. 

Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi while addressing a conference, along with notable federal ministers highlighted the premiers decision.

Joint candidate of the opposition political forefront – PDM Yousaf Raza Gillani defeated PTI’s  candidate Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in Senate polls on Wednesday. 

Yousaf Raza Gillani taking a marginal lead of 5 votes, secured 169 votes while 164 votes were casted in Abdul Hafeez’s affirmation. A total of 7 votes got negated by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)

Meanwhile considering the women quota, 174 votes were casted in favour of  PTI candidate Fauzia Arshad whereas PML-N candidate Farzana Kausar got 161 votes. It is pertinent to be stated here that 5 votes of the parliamentarians got rejected by ECP.
