PM welcomes Supreme Court opinion

Islamabad – Prime Minister Imran Khan has welcomed the opinion of the Supreme Court regarding the Senate elections scheduled for March 3.

Sources in the Parliament told The Nation on Monday that the Prime Minister made these remarks during his interactions with party MNAs and other key leaders ahead of conclusion of election campaign for 48 Senate seats on Monday night.

According to informed source Prime Minister is upbeat that doors of corrupt practices in the wake of the apex court decision have been closed.

The Prime Minister said that ballot identification mechanism by the Election Commission of Pakistan set by the Supreme Court in its Monday’s ruling would help stop corrupt practices in the Senate election.

Commenting on a letter written to all MNAs including the Prime Minister by the PDM candidate for Senate seat from Islamabad, former Prime Minister and PPP central leader Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani for vote, Imran Khan remarked this is new way seeking NRO.

“Prime Minister reiterated his stance that he will never grant NRO to those who had looted and plundered the national wealth”, a senior PTI leader who called on the Prime Minister on Monday quoted him to have stated this.

Imran Khan meets Punjab Governor, CM, MNAs

In a related development, Imran Khan has spent a hectic day by holding series of consultations with key party leaders.

As per the details shared by PM media office, the Prime Minister had separate and group meetings with as many as 28 MNAs and discussed matters of mutual interest.

The MNAs, who called on the Prime Minister here at the Parliament House, included Gul Dad Khan, Gul Zafar Khan, Jawad Hussain, Muhammad Iqbal Afridi, Sajid Khan, Dr Haider Ali, Noor Alam Khan, Muhammad Aslam Bhotani, Uzma Riaz, Zille-e-Huma, Nafeesa Khattak, Shandana Gulzar, Tahir Iqbal Chaudhry, Amir Gopang, Saira Bano, Muhammad Jamali, Munawara Bibi, Makhdoom Samiul Hasan, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, Munaza Hassan, Fakhar Zaman Khan, Shaheen Naz, Abdul Shakoor Shad, Sardar Nasrullah Dareshk, Sardar Muhammad Jaffer Khan Leghari, Muhammad Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel, Niaz Ahmed Jhakar and Amjad Ali Khan Niazi.

Senator Sajjad Hussain Turi also met the Prime Minister.

During these meetings Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, Minister for Communications Murad Saeed, Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noor ul Haq Qadri and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar were also present.

Few days ago, Prime Minister had told the key party leaders that he would reach out to all the party MNAs besides the PTI-s coalition partners to ensure that all their nominees win the Senate election.
