Police issue update after search launched for man who vanished while fishing

Police have found a body while searching for a man who went missing while fishing. Kenneth Wilson is thought to have gone fishing at Lochan an Eoin Ruadha in Inverness on Sunday, August 30. After he was reported missing, officers launched a search to find the 70-year-old.

Shortly after midnight on September 1, the body of a man was discovered in an area near the loch. Formal identification has not yet taken place but Kenneth’s family has been made aware of the discovery, Police Scotland said. The force also said the death of the man found is being treated as unexplained but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

Kenneth’s vehicle had been traced by cops a short distance from the loch, which lies on the Ashie Moor, between Loch Ness and Loch Duntelchaig, two miles southeast of the village of Dores, the Daily Record reports.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “On Tuesday, around 12.05am, the body of a man was found in an area near Lochan an Eoin Ruadha.

“Formal identification has not yet taken place, however the family of 70-year-old Kenneth Wilson, who was previously reported missing, is aware.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
