Good morning Sunday Metro Detroit! We’re off to a good start with nothing more than a little patchy fog before 8-9am, while most of you won’t have a problem.
Skies are partly cloudy this morning with no major threat of showers until later today, which we will all want to pay close attention to as the storms could be stronger. Temperatures are in the 60s to 60s for all the early risers out there and today we will heat up very quickly. That heat and humidity will fuel showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon.

When to expect thunderstorms on Sunday
The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario at Marginal Risk for Severe Storms from mid-afternoon to late afternoon, making today an “eyes” Sunday. in the sky”.
A warm front will move in from the south helping our highs reach the mid 80s or higher between 2 and 3 pm before a cold front. A line of showers and thunderstorms is likely to move in from the west along that cold front after 3-4pm this afternoon.
These storms will be capable of downpours with deadly lightning, damaging winds, and large hail. Keep an eye on our 4Warn Weather app throughout the day, along with Local 4 News for the latest weather information.
Sunset is at 21:14
Monday
Showers and storms will continue through tonight and more rounds of wet weather are likely on Monday. Monday is a great day or night for the Ford Fireworks Show in downtown Detroit after sunset and we don’t expect an all day washout on Monday so right now, the fireworks show is on .
But we will see rain and downpours around Monday morning and afternoon with a chance for the wet weather to subside after 7-8pm allowing for drier conditions for the fireworks.
Temperatures are likely to peak in the mid-70s and only get warmer if rain clouds part here and there, which doesn’t seem like the most likely scenario. We’ll keep you posted as we get closer and closer.
Tuesday
We’ll see more rounds of rain Tuesday here in Metro Detroit before this super slow moving storm finally moves out of our area mid-week. Scattered showers and showers Tuesday with temperatures in the 60s and 70s thanks to rain and overcast skies all day.
rest of week
Better weather will return Wednesday with dry conditions, partly sunny skies and highs in the 70s and 70s. Thursday is the start of the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club, and it looks like a great start with the course in excellent condition after the rain earlier in the week. Look for tons of sunshine on Thursday with temperatures in the low 80s.
Friday will be similar with sunny skies turning partly sunny later in the day. Right now, weather computer models show showers possible Friday night through Saturday, so we’ll help you prepare.
