Entergy reports power outages in Jefferson Parish
Good morning Friends. I’m meteorologist Jims and I’m here in the WDSU First warning Weather Center. We have no newscast today because of the Olympics, but we’re still here covering the weather for you and things are going to get *** little bit quieter as far as afternoon showers go for us over the next couple of days. In evidence of that fact. Let’s look at W DS U first warning radar. You’ll see *** couple of very isolated showers, not nearly as many showers as we had yesterday morning. And our chance for rain today officially is only *** 50% and that chance for rain going down even more as we look to next week. Now, the new point is going to stay high. I was hoping that maybe by Thursday and Friday of next week, we might see some drier air but that two point right now as high as 79 and I think it’s going to stay in the mid to upper seventies all the way through Friday. All right, we have high pressure that’s in the Gulf of Mexico that’s controlling our weather right now. That high pressure system bringing us *** westerly wind now that’s gonna be changing, especially by Tuesday and Wednesday winds are going to become more easterly, which is more typical for this time of year. That means our showers and thunderstorms likely going to hold off until the later afternoon. They’re going to be less numerous too tropic in the Gulf of Mexico. Things are quiet. Caribbean disorganized cloudiness hurricane center, not concerned about that three tropical waves out there. The one that you would think is the most important, the one that the Hurricane Center would be watching on the right hand side of your screen, right. That big one coming off the coast of Africa. Not so the small one is the one that the hurricane center is watching. They say that as we get to Wednesday and Thursday, it could be in *** more favorable environment for development, 40% chance for development over the next seven days. Obviously, we’ll be watching it closely, no threat for anybody right now. Let’s take *** look at your forecast and go hour by hour through the remainder of your weekend, beginning of next week by the noon hour, still mainly dry. Although by 1130 ok, there are *** couple of showers starting to pop up by three o’clock showers getting more numerous, but you’ll notice not as numerous as yesterday *** chance for rain today at 50%. And by 637 o’clock, most of that rain should be done tomorrow. We’ll start with *** few clouds in the morning, temperatures can rise very, very quickly. But you’ll notice as we get to the noon hour. Ok, one or two showers close to the coast. But the chance for rain going down to about 30% meaning 70% of us should be dry on Monday. And the chance for rain staying in the lower range 20 to 30% for much of next week. Forecast for today, partly cloudy, less numerous and thunderstorms when you compare Sunday today with Saturday yesterday and that chance for rain going down even more for us than the extended forecast. 30% chance for rain Monday going down to *** 20% chance for showers. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There. It is your forecast right here on the World Wide Web, courtesy of W DS U first warning weather. Yeah.
