‘Pre-planned’, BJP national security claims over ‘attack’ in Andhra’s Amravati

BJP National Secretary Y Satya Kumar has alleged that an attack on his car in Amravati was a pre-planned attempt by YSR Congress party workers.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Satya Kumar said: “We went to Amaravati to meet farmers whose movement completed 1,200 days. I gave a speech in support of them. On our way back, the police stopped my car to check it, and the YSRCP workers came towards us in a group and attacked our car with sticks and stones.”

“They had planned to attack us and carried out the orders of the Tadepalli palace. When I called the DGP, they did not answer the phone. The DSP did not respond to our requests. The police also pushed our people. Policemen acting as the puppets of the YSRCP leaders are responsible for the incident. CM Jaganmohan Reddy should answer on this matter,” he added.

Satya Kumar took to Twitter to share photos of his car hit in the incident. He further said that no amount of violence will deter us from being the voice of farmers.

“Shocked by our support for the Amaravati farmers and having been exposed for their crimes, the YCP thugs physically attacked me and other karykartas! But whatever happens, all karykartas will stand up for the truth. No amount of Violence will prevent us from being the voice of farmers Satyamev Jayate,” he tweeted.

Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu also condemned the attack on BJP leaders in the state.

“Does the YCP condemn the attack by thugs on the vehicle of BJP National Secretary Satya Kumar, who expresses his support for the Amaravati movement? This attack was well planned. YCP groups are targeting those who question the government. Why did the police who were there stop the thugs?” he tweeted.

“The central leadership of the BJP is aware of the incident and is looking at the matter seriously,” Y Satya Kumar reported at the press conference.
