Pregnant driver hit by allegedly stolen car in Adelaide

A man and a woman have been arrested in Adelaide after a pregnant woman was left trapped at the wheel of her car this afternoon when an allegedly stolen car plowed into her.

The white Toyota Camry collided with the pregnant woman’s Mazda at an intersection with Lower North East Road in Highbury, sending both cars hurtling into a third vehicle.

“That white car came flying over the verge, airborne on its side, and hit that car,” a witness said.

It’s alleged the drivers of the stolen vehicle fled the scene. (Nine)

Witnesses rushed to help the woman who called her husband — who was isolating with COVID-19 — for assistance.

The woman’s husband called his father as emergency services arrived on scene.

“I just knew the car had been smashed but we didn’t know how big this accident was,” father-in-law James Blagg said.

The 31-year-old and her unborn baby survived the ordeal and were taken to the Flinders Medical Centre to be assessed.

The 41-year-old woman driving the third car was uninjured.

Police alleged the Camry had been stolen during a break-in three days ago.
