Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday he paid tribute to former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar on his birth anniversary, saying that he served the society with utmost dedication and worked to eliminate poverty.
Chandra Shekhar, who served as Prime Minister from November 10, 1990 to June 21, 1991, headed a government of a breakaway Janata Dal faction with external support from Congress.
“Tributes to former Prime Minister Shri Chandra Shekhar Ji on his birth anniversary. He made a great contribution to our nation and was highly respected across the political spectrum,” Modi said in a tweet.
He served the society with utmost dedication and worked to eliminate poverty, the prime minister said.
