PRIVATE SCHOOLS in the city have no plans to bring up the summer holidays from May 2, unlike government-sponsored and funded schools following a notice from the West Bengal government, as the wave conditions heat do not prevail in the state now.
The government notice is intended for state and state-subsidized educational institutions and not private schools, officials said Thursday.
Classes in all schools were suspended for a week from April 16 as the mercury soared to around 40 degrees Celsius in South Bengal in response to a government directive that was issued with students in mind.
Many of the schools had then opted for the online modality. However, classes resumed when weather conditions improved and the temperature dropped to around 35 degrees Celsius in the city. But the prime minister mama banerjee It said on Wednesday that summer vacation will begin in state and charter schools from May 2, as previously notified by the government. South Point High School Vice President Krishna Damani told PTI that face-to-face classes at the institution have resumed from April 23 and will continue until May 12.
There is no possibility of suspension of classes before the date. Summer vacation for both sections will begin May 13 and last for a month, she said. “We had closed the campus and went online from April 16 to 21 when the heat wave was on. As the temperatures have now dropped, we feel that classes can now continue until the scheduled date of summer vacation. We do not see the need to advance the dates, ”he said.
La Martiniere’s secretary, Supriyo Dhar, also said that the holidays for the boys’ and girls’ sections will start from May 13. “Extreme heat conditions forced us to suspend physical classes last week. But the conditions are no longer so stifling for the children,” she added.
BDM International School Principal Madhumita Sengupta said: “We have no plans to move the summer holidays to the first week of May. However, if the situation becomes too hot and humid for the children, we can think of something for the primary section. In-person classes for the secondary and higher level will continue as scheduled until the end of this month when the holidays begin.
