PVR Inox earned Rs. 1894 crore through sale of movie tickets and Rs. 1,618 crore through food and beverage sales in FY22-23; Food and drinks BIGGER than Burger King sales in India: Bollywood News – Bollywood Hungama

One of the biggest complaints of many moviegoers today is that ticket prices are highly inflated, especially at PVR theaters. Therefore, it will come as a surprise to many readers to know that the ATP or average ticket price at PVR cinemas in the last financial year was Rs. 236. This and many other fascinating facts were mentioned in the PVR Inox Annual Report 2022-23.

Some of this data is the following:
1. While the ATP in FY2019 was Rs. 207, fell to Rs. 204 in FY20 due to the pandemic. It dropped further to Rs. 180 in FY21 and later increased to Rs. 235 in FY22 before stabilizing at Rs. 240 in FY22.

2. Box office revenue in FY 2019 was Rs. 1636 crore and jumped to Rs. 1731 crores. It fell to Rs. 102 crores and Rs. 670 crore for the multiplex chain in FY21 and FY22 respectively. It then rose to a record Rs. 1894 crore in FY23.

3. The footfalls were 9.9 crores in FY19 and 10.20 crores in FY20. It fell to 70 lakhs and 3.30 crores in FY21 and FY22 respectively. In FY23, it increased to Rs 9.50 crore. Therefore, although it earned huge revenues in the previous financial years, the inflows are less than in FY20.

4. The same is also reflected in occupancy which was 36% in FY19, 35% in FY20, 10% in FY21, 22% in FY22 and 26% in FY23.

5. Food and drink play an important aspect of the cinema experience today. PVR Inox earned Rs. 1,618 crore through the sale of snacks and beverages in FY23. This is more than Burger King’s revenue (Rs 1,440 crore). The per capita expenditure (SPH) was Rs. 128.

6. The multiplex chain also made huge profits of Rs. 189 crore through revenue from convenience fees charged while booking tickets online.

7. He got Rs. 290 crore through advertising revenue.

8. The Hindi film industry suffered last year due to the disappointing performance of several big-ticket films. Hindi films on PVR had a share of 44% in FY19 and it fell to 33%. The revenue share of Telugu films increased from 13% to 20% and that of Tamil films from 13% to 16%.

9. Thanks to the merger with Inox, PVR Inox now has 1,697 screens across 360 properties in 114 cities. Of the total number of theaters in the country, PVR Inox owns 18% of them.
