Madhya Pradesh
Tragedy struck a temple in the city of Indore when an ancient well collapsed, taking with it devotees sitting on a slab atop the well. At least 35 devotees died in the accident that took place while performing a ‘havan’ at Ram Navami.
The incident took place at the Baleshwar Mahadev temple in Indore. Following the incident, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a free amount of Rs 5 lakhs for the relatives of the deceased while Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.
rajasthan
Three men have reportedly died after being electrocuted while performing stunts during Ram Navami celebrations in Kotradeet village of Rajasthan’s Kota district.
The celebration turned tragic when seven men formed a human pyramid to topple a steel ring, with which they performed stunts. They struck an overhead power line and were electrocuted, Deputy Superintendent of Police Gajendra Singh said.
Although three people were killed, four others who were also electrocuted were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, violence and clashes were reported in the West Bengal city of Howrah between two groups during a Ram Navami procession. Several vehicles were reportedly set on fire and shops looted Thursday night. Police said more than 30 people were detained in connection with the clashes. Six police officers were reportedly injured.
According to reports, the situation was normal on Friday morning. However, a heavy police deployment was seen in the city of Howrah the morning after the clashes. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is taking a dharna, said that strict action would be taken against the culprits.
Maharashtra
In the city of Aurangabad, Maharashtra, at least 12 people, including 10 policemen, have been injured in clashes. According to PTI, a mob of around 500 people hurled rocks and bottles filled with petrol as staff tried to control the situation after a clash between two groups near a Ram temple on Thursday.
The incident, in which the criminals set 13 vehicles on fire, occurred during the middle night of Wednesday and Thursday in the city’s Kiradpura town, which is home to the famous Ram temple, authorities said.
Police used tear gas and fired plastic bullets as well as live bullets to control the crowd, authorities said, adding that eight teams have been formed to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
Karnataka
In the south, clashes broke out between two communities during a Ram Navami procession on Thursday night in Hassan district. People from both communities have reportedly filed complaints against each other.
Authorities say the incident took place on Bagur road in Channarayapatna. People from two communities clashed during a procession after two men were allegedly stabbed.
The victims were identified as Murli and Harsha. Both are currently being treated at a nearby private hospital.
As a precautionary measure, security was reinforced in the town.
