Ramaswamy calls CNN’s Collins a “smug kid”

2024 Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy called CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins a “smug teenager” in a Tuesday’s post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, in response to an interview on Monday in which she pressed him on topics including his recent comments on 9/11.

“Funny interview with @CNN last night,” Ramaswamy wrote in his post. “I felt like I was talking to a smug teenager.”

In Monday’s interviewCollins pressed Ramaswamy about comments you made in an article in The Atlantic published the same day. In the article, Ramaswamy questioned how many police officers or federal agents were on the planes that hit the twin towers. He told her that the article was misquoting him.

“What I said on January 6 is that I think there were a lot of federal agents in the field and we deserve to know who they are,” Ramaswamy said on CNN’s “The Source.” “On 9/11, what I said is that the government lied – and this is incontrovertible proof, Kaitlan – the government lied about Saudi Arabia’s involvement.”

In response, Collins said he felt Ramaswamy was using his platform to push false claims under the guise of “just asking questions.”

“I think people look at those comments, look at what you said in The Atlantic, what you say was misquoted. They look at the comments you’ve made about the Federal Reserve adding zeros to the bank accounts of media companies, and I mean, it sounds like you’re raising conspiracy theories with this ‘I’m just asking questions’ defense.” she said.

collins also lobbied Ramaswamy about comments he made about arming the Taiwanese people with weapons to defend themselves against a Chinese invasion. Ramaswamy responded to Collins by stating that he was not taking into account his entire plan to rebuff Chinese attempts to take over Taiwan.

“I will not allow anyone to put words in my mouth,” he stated.
