Three large air tankers and several other aircraft were deployed to contain the bushfire earlier on Tuesday, according to the RFS.

RFS spokesman Greg Allan said, while there was no immediate threat to properties, the Indigenous community at Wreck Bay had been told to remain alert to changing conditions, as well as towns to the north of the national park.

“The southerly is expected later, so anyone in that Jervis Bay area needs to remain vigilant and monitor conditions,” he said.

Wreck Bay Village residents have been told traffic has been stopped from the Vincentia roundabout to afford the community a fast evacuation if needed.

A statement posted on the park’s Facebook page at 3pm said: “Further evacuations are likely to follow. Visitors and campers are advised to prepare to evacuate at short notice.

“The park will remain closed until further notice. Please follow all advice from park staff. Thank you for your cooperation.”
