THE FIRST WEEK OF THE MONTH IS RESERVED FOR ELDERLY, CHILD AND DISABILITY SUBSIDIES

It’s worth noting that once these funds become available, they won’t need to be claimed right away. All money owed to each client will remain in their accounts until a person is ready to make a withdrawal. This remains the case for the four aforementioned grants.

Meanwhile, SASSA has ensured gold card social benefit recipients that they can still receive their benefits without interruption until the end of the year.

THE VALIDITY OF EXPIRED SASSA/POSTBANK GOLD CARDS WAS EXTENDED

This follows a call made by SASSA last month for all scholarship recipients with expiring or expiring gold cards to pick up their new gold cards at post offices across the country.

However, the Payments Association of South Africa (PASA) announced last month that it extended the validity of expired SASSA/Postbank Gold cards until December 31, 2023.

This means welfare recipients can continue to use their expired cards for welfare payment transactions at ATMs and merchant point-of-sale (POS) withdrawals and purchases without the need to charge new cards or switch to other banks. .

‘RECIPIENTS CAN CONTINUE USING THEIR EXPIRED CARDS’

SASSA’s Gauteng and Mpumalanga Executive Manager, Themba Matlou, has urged welfare recipients with gold cards not to panic as their cards will expire at the end of the year.

“We want to inform all beneficiaries of social subsidies with expired or expiring gold cards not to worry, since the validity of the cards has been extended until the end of December 2023.”

Matlou said.

Matlou said that recipients have the right to choose a payment channel of their choice.

“They can still visit SASSA offices to change the payment method so they can get their money at their own personal banks. This card can be used at any ATM and machines.”
