The Los Angeles Chargers didn’t have to look far to find their new head coach.
Rams defensive co-ordinator Brandon Staley will stay in southern California and take the top job with the Chargers, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Staley’s Rams were a defensive force this season, surrendering the fewest passing yards and third-fewest rushing yards per game.
Staley, 38, previously served as a linebackers coach for the Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos.
The Chargers are an intriguing landing spot, as Justin Herbert emerged as a franchise quarterback during his rookie campaign in 2020.
Anthony Lynn was relieved of his coaching duties earlier this month after four seasons at the helm of the Chargers.
