Report: NBA, NBPA discussing scenarios to hold All-Star game in March

The NBA and NBPA are discussing scenarios to still hold an All-Star game in March, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

One site that is reportedly under consideration is Atlanta, the home of Turner Sports. That idea includes providing support for historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and COVID-19 relief.

As part of the 2020-21 season schedule, the league did mark down an All-Star break from March 5-10, but the actual game, which had originally been set to occur at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis (the home of the Indiana Pacers), was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Even if a game doesn’t happen, the NBA will reportedly still institute All-Star voting, meaning players will receive the typical honour of being named to one of the two teams, something that remains important for things like contract incentives and, for some, future Hall of Fame candidacy.
