Report: Oladipo turns down two-year, $45.2M max extension from Rockets

The once highly anticipated 2021 free agency crop appears to be keeping one of its star attractions, for a change.

According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo recently turned down a two-year, $45.2-million maximum contract extension, the most the team could offer him before the off-season.

Per Wojnarowski, Oladipo — who is in the final year of a four-year, $85-million deal — is looking for a longer contract, which the CBA doesn’t allow the Rockets to offer until the summer.

Oladipo’s decision puts the Rockets in a position where they need to decide whether to make him available prior to the March 25 trade deadline.

The franchise is in a state of flux after offloading superstar James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in a mid-January blockbuster trade, which brought Oladipo to Houston.
