Vincent Kompany is just about — maybe even officially by the time you read this — the next Bayern Munich head coach.
So how will he reshape the team? One year after Thomas Tuchel’s reported laundry list of Premier League and ex-Chelsea FC talent, the first rumors about Kompany’s preferred targets are spilling out.
It may be no more than speculation, but Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink has identified 21-year-old PSV winger Johan Bakayoko as one man the Bavarians may target under Kompany’s leadership. Via ed.nl:
PSV striker Johan Bakayoko could be on the radar of Bayern Munich if Vincent Kompany becomes coach there. Reliable sources tell this newspaper. Bakayoko was approached by Kompany last year to come to Burnley, but then wanted to stay at PSV. The amount the British [club] wanted to pay was also not high enough. Bayern obviously has enough resources to acquire Bakayoko.
According to the @iMiaSanMia capture of the report, Liverpool FC is in the hunt as well and the price tag could be steep:
PSV’s asking price for this summer is around €50m. Liverpool and other top clubs are interested.
Will the Belgian connection bring Bakayoko to Bavaria and make him a Kompany man? Will the Bayern bosses open up the transfer vaults for him?
