According to some, Estêvão Willian is the next big thing out of South America, bigger than Neymar, Messi, Vini Jr, or Endrick, even. So basically, the biggest ever.
If that’s true, we may have just struck absolute gold — and beat out Barcelona to his signature in the process.
With personal terms already agreed last week, we may have just reached an agreement with Palmeiras for his transfer as well. The final price appears to be €65m — unclear how much up front and how much later, but all essentially guaranteed, which would make this the record transfer between South America and Europe. Previous stories spoke of a €30+25m bid, so I’d assume at least half is up front.
Estêvão won’t turn 18 until next April, so his transfer wouldn’t go through until that summer (2025). This is a similar situation to Kendry Páez, who’s also set to join that summer (in fact, the two youngsters were born about two weeks apart).
Oh my.
Estevão Willian llegó a un acuerdo para jugar en el Chelsea: el club inglés envió su última oferta de €65M garantizados y sin objetivos, que fue aceptada por Palmeiras.
