Paris Saint-Germain appear to be eyeing Manchester City striker Julian Álvarez as the replacement for Kylian Mbappé, but of course we cannot have such stories without throwing a few more teams into them, so therefore we have rumored interested from Chelsea and Atlético Madrid as well.
Atléti appear to be a longshot even in Spanish media, where Marca talk of a “loan” being an only feasible option but one that City have already rejected. Marca add that City have zero intention in letting the 24-year-old leave on a permanent transfer either, though as we saw with Cole Palmer last summer, it’s not always about what the club want.
That said, any deal involving Álvarez, who’s scored 36 goals in his two seasons at the Etihad as second-fiddle to Erling Haaland and has a long-term deal good through 2028, will not be cheap by any means, which pretty much leaves PSG as the only realistic option. But hey, it’s worth an ask, right?
