Rep. raphael norman (RS.C.) mocked after he complained foxnews for not having enough time to read the 99-page bill that the president Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) pushed to suspend the national debt limit and curb some spending.
“We should have a lot more time,” Norman complained to Fox News’ John Roberts on Tuesday after repeating a right-wing talking point about comments the former House speaker once made. nancy pelosi (D-Calif.) who frequently taken out of context.
Norman, who in January 2021 infamously demanded Former President Donald Trump declared martial law to prevent Joe Biden from taking office, also complaining that the bill was sent for review over Memorial Day weekend.
“But it’s giving you 72 hours to consider it before you’re asked to vote,” Roberts told Norman.
“It’s only 99 pages,” the Fox host later added.
On twitter. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) led the mockery of Norman’s complaint.
“Let’s do some math,” Lieu wrote.
“If Republican Representative Ralph Norman works 8 hours a day, that’s 24 hours in 3 days to read 99 pages. That comes to reading a little over 4 pages every hour. And these are double spaced text pages,” he continued.
“Alternatively, you can have AI summarize the invoice for you in 1 minute,” Lieu added.
Norman, however, appeared over the weekend to have had at least some time to digest the bill, as he described it as “crazy”, despite his subsequent complaint on the Conservative network.
“A $4 trillion debt ceiling increase with virtually no cuts is not what we agreed to. I will not vote to bankrupt our country. The American people deserve better,” he tweeted.
