Return to school for NSW students is ‘on the cards’

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has all but conceded Australia will have to learn to live with high COVID-19 case numbers as the Delta variant continues to swirl throughout the country.

Mr Morrison told A Current Affair host Deborah Knight the goal is to get to the “point where we can live with this COVID just like we do with the flu”.

“Previously, before the Delta strain, we were able to contain it and not have lockdowns,” he said.

“The Delta strain overwhelms that and it is not just in Australia, it’s happening in Singapore, Europe, the UK, US and it is not a criticism of any of those countries.

“Countries with higher vaccination rates, lower vaccination rates, is having its way.

“Our goal is to get to the point where we can live with this COVID just like we do with the flu.”
