CONTAIN A WILDFIRE AT LAKE AND COLUSA COUNTIES, BORDERS THE RIDGE FIRE IGNITED YESTERDAY EVENING AT WALKER RIDGE ROAD AND HIGHWAY 20. WE’RE LOOKING AT VIDEO FROM YESTERDAY AND THIS MORNING THROUGH THE WILLIAMS ALERT WILDFIRE CAMERA. CAL FIRE SAYS THE FAVORABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS THROUGH THE NIGHT HELPED CREWS MAKE SOME PROGRESS ON CONTAINMENT. THERE’S CURRENTLY SEVERAL ROAD CLOSURES IN PLACE, AND YOU CAN SEE THE DETAILS HERE ON YOUR SCREEN THERE IS TWO ON HIGHWAY 21 ON HIGHWAY 16 AND TWO ON LEESVILLE ROAD. LIKE WE MENTIONED, CREWS MADE PROGRESS ON CONTAINMENT IN KCRA 3’S. ERIN HEFT IS NOW ON SCENE THERE IN LAKE COUNTY AND HAS THE DETAILS. ERIN, WHAT ARE YOU SEEING? THIS MORNING? YEAH, LETICIA, WE’RE SEEING FIRE RETARDANT ACROSS THE THE ROAD STAINS LIKE THAT. A LOT OF CREWS WE ARE ON THAT CLOSED HIGHWAY 20 RIGHT NOW. AND CONTAINMENT OVERNIGHT HAS REACHED 15%. FANTASTIC. IT’S STILL SETTING, THOUGH. AT 2500 ACRES BURNED. SO TAKE A LOOK. THIS IS THE TOPOGRAPHY OR THE LANDSCAPE THAT FIRE CREWS HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS MORNING. AND THIS IS REALLY JUST THE START OF IT. YOU CAN SEE THESE ROLLING HILLS, BUT AS YOU FOLLOW HIGHWAY 20 UP, IT GETS A LOT STEEPER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROADWAY. AND THAT IS WHAT IS BURNING THIS BRUSH THAT YOU CAN THERE’S TREES TOO. THERE’S TREES. THERE’S BUSHES. BUT THIS REALLY, REALLY DRY BRUSH THAT IS WHAT THE FIRE IS MAKING ITS WAY THROUGH. AND IT’S A LITTLE DECEIVING RIGHT NOW, BECAUSE IF YOU’RE LOOKING AT THE SKY, IT LOOKS A LITTLE CLEAR. IT LOOKS BLUISH WHITE. BUT AS WE MADE OUR WAY FROM SACRAMENTO TO WHERE WE STAND IN LAKE COUNTY RIGHT NOW, WE COULD ACTUALLY SEE THE SMOKE FROM THIS RIDGE FIRE FOR ABOUT 65 MILES FROM WOODLAND TO WHERE WE STAND RIGHT NOW. SO QUITE A LARGE FIRE, EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKS BLUE RIGHT NOW. AGAIN, 15% CONTAINMENT, 2500 ACRES AS OF THIS MORNING. AND REALLY, THE ONLY CARS WE’RE SEEING ARE CAL FIRE VEHICLES, WATER SERVICE VEHICLES AND DIESEL TRUCK SERVICES. BECAUSE LIKE I SAID, THIS IS REALLY REMOTE AND REALLY HARD TO GET ONE SERVICE TO EVEN GET YOU THIS LIVE SHOT TO ANY KIND OF WATER IN THIS ZONE, BECAUSE IT IS SO REMOTE AND THERE ARE SO FEW HOMES AND STRUCTURES BEHIND US. BUT LIKE WE SAID EARLIER, THEY ARE THREATENED AND THIS FIRE RIGHT NOW SITS AT 15% CONTAINMENT, 2500 ACRES FROM LAKE COUNTY, ERIN HEFT KCRA THREE NEWS. ERIN, THANK YOU SO MUCH. WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THIS FIRE ON AIR AND ONLINE FOR AROUND THE CLOCK UPDATES. DOWN
